Summer 2023 Tax Update

I wanted to give everyone a heads-up that our office will be short staffed over the next month. My mom is forcing me to go on a European river cruise, then my dad is forcing me to hike the Camino de Santiago from Portugal to Spain. The things we do for family! Teresa will be checking messages a couple times a week, but the best way to reach us is email.

If you filed an extension this year, S-Corps and Partnerships are due on September 15^th. Personal income taxes are due on October 15^th. There is no extending your extension anymore! Filing after your extension expires means a gleeful IRS assessing big penalties and taking even more of your (their) money.

The IRS has re-upgraded its Where’s My Federal Refund? website and it’s getting pretty decent. They’ve also simplified getting your prior year tax information from their website. I guess they figured they should give us something besides audits for the $80B of our money Congress gave them last year.
