CoronaVirus and Taxes

Hi Guys,

After all those warnings about computer viruses and fraud…

You didn’t think some puny virus would stop the big bad IRS from collecting THEIR money, did you?!  Well, it did, sorta.  The current word is that the TAX FILING DEADLINE is still April 15th, but the TAX PAYMENT DEADLINE is now July 15th.  This means you still have to file your taxes (or an extension) by April 15th, but if you owe the IRS, you don’t have to pay until July 15th.  After that, normal penalties and interest apply!  If you owe your state, don’t count on them being so forgiving!

REMINDER – the penalty for NOT FILING ON TIME is HUGE while the penalty for NOT PAYING ON TIME is about 1% of the amount owed per month.  If you end up getting a refund, they forgive the entire indiscretion! Those sweeties!

I just sent an email last week about TeleTaxPrep (rerun details below).  We are still in the office for the time being, but if you cannot make it in and are uncomfortable with TeleTaxPrep, fear not!  We can setup a tax appointment via phone once you send your documents over to us.  It’s less personal and the poodles aren’t included, but it’s virus free at least!

Start rerun (just like sports on TV these days!):

Basically, get your tax documents to us any way you can.  Snail mail, UPS, FedEx, fax, email, or the awesome preferred method, SecureFilePro (our Encrypted Portal – like the Dark web, but safer!). We work on them for a few days and then contact you for some Q&A (phone or email).  Once everything is finalized, we get some permission signatures (the same forms you’ve always signed) and payment, usually by that awesome SecureFilePro system, and you’re set.  No traffic!  No germs!  Only limited human contact!

If you need any help getting organized or want to make an appointment, please call our office (770-471-3003) or email me, and if you know anyone looking for very experienced tax preparers, please forward our name to them!
