Georgia Tax Refund

I was going to send you all the details on the Georgia State Refund, but the Press beat me to it!  Imagine, the Press actually keeping us informed!  Anyway, here’s the link for everything you need to know:

The Cliff Notes version:  Everyone who filed a GA Income Tax Return in both 2020 and 2021 is eligible for a $250-$500 refund.  You don’t need to do anything.  They will add it to your refund (if you’re a late filer), or deposit it to your bank account (if they have it), or mail it to your house.  If you didn’t pay GA tax (like most students and retired folks), you don’t get it!  Your GA Tax paid is listed on line 16 (page 3) of your Georgia Form 500 (near the back of your Client Copy).  There’s a bunch of other caveats because, you know, politicians…

As always, feel free to call or email me with any questions.
